The Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research Symposium (FEGRS) is an annual student-run event that is held on the University of Alberta engineering campus. FEGRS 2017 will occur on June 27-28, 2017.  It is a conference aimed at providing opportunities for students to present their research, network with industry, and improve their professional development skills.

FEGRS 2017 will consist of over 110 total oral and poster presentations, 5 professional development workshops/info sessions, 3 keynote speeches, a research elevator pitch competition, an industrial mixer, 25 student awards worth $4900 in total, as well as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Over 400 total students, professionals, and faculty/staff are expected to attend the event. This year we also made it a goal to promote two important and relevant social initiatives: women in engineering and research, and engineering sustainability. Thus, we have partnered with women in science, engineering, and research (WISER) and obtained a gold certification of sustainability for the event from the Office of Sustainability.

This symposium is organized by an inter-departmental committee with representatives from Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil and Environment Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
